The soul might become confused as to where it was and where it should go and could become lost. If someone died in Egypt, however great or humble, they were buried in the earth of their mother and so passed on to the afterlife with relative ease passage to the afterlife from somewhere outside of Egypt, it was thought, would present problems. One of the reasons Egyptians preferred not to campaign far from their land was their concern about dying and being buried somewhere beyond the boundaries of their native land and so not being able to pass on to the Hall of Truth and, from there, to the Field of Reeds. The Egyptians believed that the afterlife was a mirror image of life on earth in Egypt. Qebhet is never linked to Osiris as a daughter and the reference to "the king's sister" remains a mystery unless one accepts Anput, sometimes given as Anubis' consort, in this role. Osiris was considered the "first king" and often references to "the king" indicate this god but, in this case, it does not seem to make sense. Possibly the story of Qebhet formed an earlier tale involving Anubis in the role of Osiris and some other goddess in the part of Nephthys (possibly Anput). Anubis was an ancient god and judge of the dead before Osiris rose in popularity and replaced him. Absorption: Anubis has the ability to absorb power of the Underworld. As Nephthys and Osiris were brother and sister is is possible that this story became mirrored in the conception of Qebhet.Portal creation: Anubis has the power to create portals to other Dimensions as well as controlling the worlds he creates.Poisonous Green Snakes: Anubis has the power to create Poisonous Snakes that has the power to suppress all Godly powers when bind by them and make a God powerless until he is freed from them. The Poisonous Snakes that suppress a God's power meant that Anubis was trapped in Tartarus until the end of time.Īnubis powers are similar as Hades' powers, so the powers that Anubis demonstrated but no limited are. Anubis was sent to the Underworld and held there by Hades' powers. Xena killed Anubis himself and Ra (King of Both Egyptian and Sumerian Gods) and declared to Zeus (King of the Olympian Gods) that Egypt and Greece, Mortals and Gods alike, will be friends and allies. Hades resurrects both Xena and Autolycus to the land of the living and then they went to Olympus. He sent Anubis's guards beyond Tartarus to Hell itself ( Mephistopheles & Lucifer's Realm). All his Hades' powers were restored in the process. Xena used her Chakram killing the poisonous Snakes of Anubis, thus freeing Hades from his Grasp. Once both of them were in the Underworld, they fought Anubis's Guards but couldn't defeat them. So Callisto killed Xena and Autolycus in order for them to get to the Underworld and free Hades. However, sooner rather than later both Pantheons understood his scheme, as did Xena, Gabrielle, Autolycus & Callisto (now freed from the Underworld thanks to Hades). Combined with his own Army for the Egyptian Underworld, he became twice as strong as a God and even Zeus was no match for him. He used his powers of Poisonous snakes to suppress Hades's powers and seized control over the Underworld as well as Hades' army of Dead. He planned to be the Supreme God of both Pantheons.Īnubis went to the Realm of Hades and surprised him. However, Anubis had other plans beyond the contest. The Egyptian pantheon chose Fierosis and the Olympians chose Gabrielle. Both pantheons of Gods gathered at Olympus and each pantheon chose their champion. Weighing of the heart, he is the son of Seth and Nephthys.Īt a time there was a war between Egypt and Greece, Mortals as well as Gods, so both Pantheons of Gods agreed to stage a contest between the two cities. He is represented as a great black canid. Anubis is the Egyptian God associated with mummification, the afterlife, guide of souls, guardian of the tombs, master of the necropolis and embalmer pattern.
